Entropie
The city of La Chaux-de-Fonds is often compared to a beehive, and indeed it is its emblem, but this overlooks the perspective of Václav Šmerák, who reveals the most haunting corners of this watchmaking metropolis. Through long, hallucinatory sequences, we are immersed in the industrious bustle, drifting slowly among the shadows. The immersion owes as much to the visuals as to the music, which gives the film the status of a sound piece. If Hopi prophecies form the basis of the documentary Koyaanisqatsi, what strange mantras could have dictated the scenes of Entropie ?
